Early Christmas

While many people moan that Christmas is getting earlier every year. I welcome the early approach – the early decoration of trees in public places, the Christmas features in magazines and the highly decorated shop windows.

It’s not that I’m a big fan of the commercial Christmas or that I start planning early. I’m more of a ‘dash to get the last post’ person and I relish purchasing all my presents on line. If I can get them wrapped at the same time – perfect!

It’s just that some people need to be told and then told again that Christmas is on the way. As with any good PR campaign – you need to make sure that the message is drip fed and that people see it not just once.

So, when my dear husband asks me two days before Christmas what I want this year – I know that there’s no excuse. Let’s face it, he’s had 12 months notice. You may laugh but when I was 30 he bought me a set of car mats, for my last birthday I had a set of table mats and this year, he has suggested that I might need a new iron.

Bring on Christmas – let’s have the glossy ads, the pictures of pearls and diamonds, the highly expensive perfume, it’s not too late to have those targeted press releases and features. Marketing managers don’t cut back this year – you know that PR can help you maximise your festive sales ……….after all, people (especially husbands) are never too old to be educated!
