Addressing the opportunities and challenges posed by the UK's increasing diversity is one of the themes of my Presidential year. Diversity is one of those subjects we all know is important, yet I'm sure that like me you often struggle to understand its complexities and the subtle nuances which can make the difference between getting it right or getting it very, very wrong.
So I'm delighted that we're hosting a half-day conference on diversity which will answer many of the questions which you and your organisation - or clients - might be struggling with. Taking place on 18 October at CIPR HQ, the conference will also see the launch of a major report showing how this subject can impact on a company's direct business interests.
Having a workforce which reflects your customers and understands their needs is just simple common sense - yet all too often we just can't see that. And isn't it time someone opened the debate about terrorism and the role of communication in bringing together people from different cultures/religions after events such as the London bombings last year?
